The road across Sognefjellet is the highest and most impressive mountain pass in Northern Europe, at 1430
meters above sea level. For centuries, this mountain pass has been an important route between east and west.
Due to the spectacular scenery in the area, the road has been made a National Tourist Route.
Several smaller roads leads into the mountain areas of Jotunheimen and Breheimen. These areas are
national parks
and are marked by high mountains and snow-covered glaciers. At Sognefjellet, you will also find the
Sognefjellet
Summer Ski Centre, where you can go cross-country skiing all summer. The area offers a variety of well-prepared tracks.
